Barbados is no big island – Barbados is almost 25 km from east to west – but here is a lot to see and experience in spite the modest size.
Along the coast there are beaches of all kinds – from the windsurfers’ favorite Silver Sands Beach on the south coast to the peaceful Paradise Beach on the west coast. If you want a change from the beach life, we recommend a visit to the capital, Bridgetown, which is no bigger than you can explore it in one day. You can also go on an excursion to one of the island’s old sugar plantations. But don’t make too many plans in advance – Barbados is full of surprises, and you never know how long the excursions take. There is a distinct “tomorrow’s culture” here as in Spain. You can experience an impromptu cricket match, a roadside booth selling freshly grilled fly fish, or an impulsive visit to one of the world’s oldest and most well-known distilleries: Mount Gray. That is rum to die for.
