Kenya

Kenya is the epitome of safari travel. Be adventurous!

Kenya offers every visitor an incredible array of attractions. Wildlife on the prowl in the jungle. Endless dazzling white beaches and beautiful coral reefs. Snow-capped mountains. Freshwater and alkaline lakes. Light and impenetrable forests.

These offer unmatched opportunities for unforgettable escapades, adventure, and relaxation.

Kenya Animals

The biggest tourist attraction in Kenya is its wildlife. The country is home to some of the most majestic animals in the world; the elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, and rhinos. Giraffes, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, and monkeys are also common sights.

The country is also home to a large number of national parks where you can experience these Kenya animals in their wild habitats. Masai Mara National Reserve is Lion Country and hosts the breathtaking annual wildebeest migration. The Tsavo National Parks are famous for their red elephants.

Amboseli National Park is elephant country par excellence and provides picturesque views of the majestic Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to millions of flamingos and is one of the top sanctuaries for rhinos.

And, Nairobi National Park offers you the chance to see wild lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, and giraffes against the backdrop of the capital city’s skyscrapers.

Kenya Beaches

Despite the popularity of its wildlife, Kenya beaches also have a lot more to offer. The coastal city of Mombasa offers some of the finest beaches anywhere as well as traditional water sports such as swimming, surfing, sailing, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing.

Malindi and Watamu offer some stunning coral reefs and provide out-of-this-world diving opportunities. And, Lamu with its narrow alleys, dhows from a bygone era and uninhabited island is a great place to unwind. For this reason, Lamu is particularly popular with honeymooners.

Lakes of Kenya

Kenya is also home to several fascinating lakes. Lake Victoria in Western Kenya is the world’s second-largest lake and the source of River Nile. Equally fascinating is the Kogelo village, US President Barack Obama’s ancestral village is located on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Lake Nakuru is an alkaline lake that hosts millions of flamingoes. Lake Bogoria is famous for its geysers and hot springs. Lake Turkana has the twin distinctions of being both the world’s largest permanent desert lake and the world’s largest alkaline lake. Its vicious inhabitants include crocodiles, vipers, and scorpions.

The incredible Mountains in Kenya

For those craving true adventure, there’s nothing like climbing to the top of Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in Kenya. Climbing to the highest peaks of Batian and Nelion will fill you with a sense of fulfillment and give you an opportunity to see glaciers and some unique vegetation such as water holding cabbages.

Mount Elgon in the west of the country also provides excellent mountain climbing opportunities and a chance to see a herd of salt-mining elephants at work. And although Mount Longonot is the shortest of the 3 mountains in Kenya, it still offers excellent hiking opportunities.

Hotels

You’ll find a wide variety of possible accommodations in Kenya, particularly in the popular destinations cited above. And as is the case with every major city, you’ll find the full spectrum of accommodations.

From fully luxury hotels, some of them in the heart of the African jungle to more hotels that provide the basics at an affordable cost. The most memorable of these accommodations are luxury tented lodges in the heart of the Kenyan wilderness, notably the Masai Mara.

Experiencing Kenya

As you can see, Kenya offers plenty of amazing adventures for any tourist to enjoy. From incredible encounters with wildlife to hikes up snow-capped mountains, soothing beach walks, and fun water sports, Kenya has it all.
